$500 ASUS VivoBook 15 | Specs, Price, Performance with benchmarks

The ASUS Vivobook 15 was launched on June 2019 by ASUS. The Vivobook 15 series were a mid-ranged budget laptop series which were powered by many budget mobile Processors from both AMD and Intel along with their integrated or dedicated GPUs. The laptop here costs less than $500.


The Laptop reviewed here is powered by quad core Ryzen 5 3550H processor and 8GB DDR4 memory with a TB HDD. This laptop has a screen of 15.6 inches and 60 Hz Full HD 1920x1080p FullHD IPS display. It is a pretty thin laptop which is about 18.9 Thin and it weights about 1.60 Kg. It has 3 hr battery backup while doing heavy tasks and around 4 to 5 hrs while doing normal work which is again just okay if you do work all the day, it requires 1.5 to 2 hrs to charge fully. It has a web cam on the top of it like most laptops and a normal sized keyboard. It also comes with a Pre-loaded Windows 10 Home with lifetime validity which is necessary in 2020.

1. Display

The laptop comes with a 15.6 inch FullHD (1920x1080) IPS display. The IPS display offers the best colour and view angles when compared to other displays. It also has a refresh rate of 60Hz. The 7.7mm bezel on the NanoEdge display also results in an incredible 81% screen-to-body ratio – so you get more screen for more immersive viewing.

2. Body

The ASUS VivoBook 15 is very thin and light with a 18.9mm profile, it weighs just 1.6kg. It’s really light weighted and looks pretty cool with the silver white colour back (there are many colour options). It is easily carriable and you can take it any where you want.

3. Specifications

The laptop is powered by 4 core, 8 Threaded Ryzen 5 3550H based on ZEN+ Microarchitecture and fabricated on 12nm process. It has a Base Clock of 2.1 GHz and max Boost Clock of 4.7 GHz. It has 4MB L3 cache Default TDP of 35W (TDP from 12-35W). The APU can reach max. temperatures of 105 degree Celsius.


The APU Ryzen 5 3550H comes with Vega 8 integrated Graphics which has 8 Graphical cores and frequency of 1200 MHz. It comes with single stick of 8GB DDR4 memory (upto 16GB dual channel) and a 1 TB HDD at this price point. 

4. Ports

It has a USB 3.1 port with a reversible USB Type-C connector makes connecting devices quick and easy. USB 3.1 provides data transfer speeds as fast as 5Gbps which is up to 10X faster than USB 2.0 connections! 

5. Battery

The laptop can run for 5 Hrs easily when doing normal work and 3 Hrs when doing intensive works which are great as it is one of the only laptops to offer this at this price. It can get fully charged from 0% in less than 2 Hrs.

 The laptop offers a great performance to everyone who buys it either you are gamer or a collage student who needs performance. The laptop is very light and runs for 5-6 Hrs easily. It can also run games on low-medium settings (putting another stick of RAM would be great). So, buy it if you are tight on a budget and it will satisfy you!
